Quick Update
How quickly life changes! Junior is now 13 days old and it feels like the fastest and slowest time of my life. Everyday we get to know him a little bit more. I can't wait for him to grow up a little and start responding to us, yet I dont want to miss out on this short stage of his life where he is so little and helpless.
The first week home was literally a haze of sleep deprivation, soreness, and nerves. But the midwives at the hospital were right, it does get a little better everyday. And it helps when you can't stay mad at the person turning your life upside down! After almost two weeks of living with Junior, I've learned:
- he's not yet fond of normal sleeping hours. He feeds every two hours and will spend most of the late evening/early morn hours cluster feeding and crying if we try and put him in his crib. Last night he finally passed out at 2 and slept for an amazing 5 hrs, at which point I woke up and worried he had slept too much.
- I've become very adept at sleeping in a ball on the couch with a blanket over my head. I feel pretty.
- he makes a perfect 'o' with his mouth and stares at you with bug eyes until you feed him.
- diapers are no big deal. Although going through 4 in one change can be tiring.
- drugstore.com and amazon are my friends. As is target online!
- E has been making all the dinners and doing laundry/dishes. Thank goodness for paternity leave! Stocking up the freezer was a lifesaver too.
Time for a diaper change!
