Starting to Feel Like a Parent

We met with our pediatrician tonight and afterwards E said he started to feel like a real parent. I can't wait to see him as a dad!

He also valiantly installed our car seat last night (pending a successful police inspection) and all of a sudden I realized 1. how small the baby will be and 2. how real it is! Somehow the pukey neon green color of the car seat was at once intimidating and endearing. We're going to have a kid of our very own sitting there! Making messes! Spitting up! Pooping! Whoa.

We had breakfast with E's coworker and his wife over the weekend. They have two young children and she was telling me how she didn't even remember what she used to do before she had kids. She wasn't upset or resentful at all though, just matter of fact. In case I ever forget, our now-very-limited "before kid" phase mainly consists of:

- Working extra hours because it's nice and quiet at home in the evenings. Plus, money!
- Watching Food Network, Glee, Chuck, Supernatural, and the occasional trashy reality show.
- Runs to get coffee or ice cream.
- Eating out when we feel fancy or lazy.
- Reading magazines and playing on the internet.

(Try not too be too jealous of our adventures).

I'm grateful for where we are in life and excited/nervous for what's to come. Sometimes I miss the ability to go out on the town and party it up until the wee hours of the morning, but when did we really do that anyway?

T-minus 8 weeks!
