Breaking and Entering

Almost Thanksgiving! Almost there. The bulk of the week is over and now we have a fun and busy weekend filled with some last-minute shopping, frenetic cleaning/packing, dinner out, and Breaking Dawn (victoryyy).

But first, a "things-learned-the-hard-way" update: E broke into a house yesterday.

Was it our home? Well, yes.

We were running out to get some gas station coffee after dinner (don't judge lest ye be judged) and my lovely husband pulled the door closed behind him and promptly his eyes grew as wide as saucers.

I looked at the door and said, "You didn't."

"I don't have the keys."

Pregnancy brain hard at work, I replied, "Open the door!"

Yup, it took another minute or two to realize that he had locked the door from the inside without grabbing the keys (he thought they were in his jacket pocket). We had his phone, and promptly began debating if we should call a locksmith or break the lock and change them, which we should've done eons ago anyway. E was in favor of busting down the door rather than getting a locksmith, and I miraculously agreed. He then braced himself and threw his little shoulder into the door a few times, I briefly doubted his manhood out loud, and then poof! We had successfully broken back into our house.

Unfortunately, I then realized that 1. Our house is very vulnerable to attacks and 2. The break was not as clean as we had hoped. Part of the door frame broke off along with some paint on the walls. E talked to his co-worker today and it should be an "easy" fix, however, I'm pretty sure we're out much more time and money than a locksmith would've cost. On the bright side, we're finally changing the locks!
