2011 Resolutions...and Confessions
Confession 1: It isn't January. However! It is also not quite April, which seems like a mighty fine time for my New Year's Resolutions.
(don't hate).
1. Go to the gym 2 times a week. Why 2 and not 3, or even daily? Because it's attainable and doesn't sound horrifying. Plus, my gym has a women-only area that has a great selection of weights and weight machine that I never see ladies use. Not that I'm afraid to use the machines in the main floor, it's just that man sweat freaks me out a little. There I said it. A usual session at the gym is about 30 minutes weight lifting/strength training followed by 20-30 minutes of cardio. And I'm okay with that. Fitness is a journey! (Pictured above is me rocking it out at sunset in my half-nek workout gear...not).
2. Eat more fish. Fish is healthy and satisfying, a bit pricy but always fresh around these parts. I'm trying to incorporate this into at least one meal a week, with healthy greens too (I unexpectedly heart spinach salads). A tasty dressing recipe: 2 tablespoons orange juice, 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and a dash of salt. Yum!
Confession 2: I was going to put a picture of a fish here, Google-imaged it, and promptly freaked the crap out. Fish are terrifying! Cooked fish are still delicious.
3. Go on vacation. Deep breaths people, because it's happening! The Msnels household is going to...somewhere! This year. Currently hopelessly torn between:
Europe - Specifically France and a few cities there (Paris definitely, perhaps Nice, Marseilles, or Bordeaux). We've never been abroad before, but we have some knowledge of French and one of my lifelong goals is to eat a fresh baguette with cheese for lunch (because I think it's utterly Parisian and cool). But it is very expensive and involves a ton of planning.
Or:
Alaska - A cruise! Very relaxing, plus tons of food and I do heart wildlife. Plus we could visit the Mecca (Starbucks) as all Alaskan cruises seem to depart from Seattle. It is also quite pricy though (a little over a grand a person, not including airfare, but still cheaper than France). However...it's not Europe.
What to do?!
4. Stay out of credit card debt. Self explanatory, but I'd like it to be a life goal!
5...leads me to:
Confession 3: I've been thinking about this list for 3 months and I only have 4 goals this year. Is that bad?
Off to go finish off some Edy's slow churned cookie dough ice cream and watch trashy Lifetime TV.
